| | Workshop 1: Intruder and Hold-up Alarm Systems |

| | This workshop will cover the requirements of PD6662 and associated standards, covering - Risk Assessment, Assessing risk, evaluating risk, gathering the correct information and grading intruder alarm systems. System Design Proposal, Details of information that must be included in a system design proposal and general guidance on the preparation of written specifications. System Design – Installation and Maintenance, System planning, component grading, siting/locating system components, signalling requirements, maintenance schedules (remote system checks/site visits), and general applications. Intruder alarm legislation Standards to which systems are installed and maintained to: PD 6662, BSEN 50131, DD243 and DD263.
The level 3 1882 NVQ qualification is now a necessity for any installer who may have to work on building sites, which requires you to have a Construction Skills Certificate, as it exempts you from the requirement of a Health & Safety test, so long as you have achieved the award within the last 5 years. NVQ’s are competency based and allow you to work and achieve a qualification at the same time without the requirement to attend college. You can discuss and obtain information regarding NVQ qualifications and registration at the SSAIB stand.

| | 2012 Olympics and the opportunities for Installers |

| | The Olympic and Paralympic Games are quite simply the biggest event in the world. The value of the direct tenders to be let by the two London 2012 Games organizations – the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) and the London Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG) is around £9 billion. The world situation is unlikely to become more stable before 2012, in fact quite the opposite! So security requirements for 2012 will be enormous. The Metropolitan Police have had an Olympic Games unit planning their policing of the Games for some time.
In addition, there are other Games-related contracts available, which will all have security requirements:
Transport improvements across London in the years before the Games
“Stratford City”, which is 1.8 million sq. feet of office, retail and residential development, next to the Olympic Park
Expenditure by the five London “Olympic Host” Boroughs
This seminar will give you more details of all these security opportunities. But more importantly, will tell you how to access them.
